Hi, I'm Greg Selby, the owner and founder of Finish First Floors. For over 15 years, I've been helping Central Massachusetts homeowners transform their spaces with beautiful, lasting hardwood floors. What started as a dream in 2009 has grown into a trusted family business serving hundreds of homes throughout Grafton, Shrewsbury, Westborough, Norfolk, Milford, and surrounding Worcester County communities.

Early Beginnings
Growing up in Central Massachusetts, I always had the aspiration to own a business. From auctioning off lunch boxes in the third grade to landing my first job at 12 as a carpet installer, I realized early on that hard work would be my foundation.
My Journey: From Carpet Installer to Hardwood Flooring Expert
Finding My Calling
After graduating high school in 2008, right in the middle of the recession, I bounced between various construction jobs for a few years. Everything changed when I discovered hardwood flooring at age 20. I fell in love with the craft: the precision, the transformation, the satisfaction of turning worn floors into beautiful centerpieces of a home. I spent years honing my skills, working on homes throughout Worcester County, learning from experienced craftsmen, and mastering every aspect of hardwood flooring; from installation to refinishing to repair. I became obsessed with doing it right: proper sanding techniques, understanding wood species, perfecting finishes, and most importantly, treating every customer's home like my own.
Building Finish First Floors
By age 24, my wife and I had saved every dollar we could to start Finish First Floors. We launched in 2009 with nothing but a truck, some equipment, and a commitment to quality work. But word spread quickly. Customers appreciated the personal attention, the quality craftsmanship, and the fact that when you called, you spoke directly with me, not a call center. One satisfied customer led to referrals to their neighbors, friends, and family members.
Today: A Thriving Family Business
Fifteen years later, I'm still doing what I love every single day. We've refinished hundreds of historic homes in Norfolk, installed floors in new construction throughout Westborough, and restored water-damaged floors in countless Milford residences. Every project, big or small, receives the same attention to detail and commitment to excellence that earned us our first five-star review. What started as a one-man operation has grown into a respected family business serving all of Central Massachusetts and Northern Rhode Island. I'm still personally involved in every project, from the initial estimate to the final cleanup. That personal touch is what sets us apart from larger companies and national chains. As a professor at Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester, she brings organizational expertise and business acumen to everything we do. She manages all our bookkeeping and office operations. Running a small business isn't easy, but doing it as a family makes the challenges worthwhile.
